Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S6: How will next-gen smartphone compare?

Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung still has to offer an official statement about the specs and release date of the Galaxy S6, yet the public is already checking out the comparison between the upcoming device and its predecessor, the Galaxy S5.

As the newest device under the flagship series of the South Korean brand, the Galaxy S5 is known to come in a large 5.1-inch Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080 resolution screen. On the other hand, the alleged S6 is said to come out with an even bigger 5.2 or 5.3-inch QHD display.

The S5 also has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-1 quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 processor with 2GB RAM as well as an Andreno 330 GPU. It runs using the Android 4.4.2 operating system, and has a 2800 mAh Li-Ion battery that can last up to 21 hours of talk time. It also features a 16MP primary camera as well as a 2MP front-facing camera.

In comparison, a website dedicated to the future Samsung Galaxy S6 listed down the possible features of the said device, which could include a Samsung Exynos 8000 16-core processor / Snapdragon Qualcomm 810 64-bit, a bigger 4GB RAM, a 128GB on-board memory, 5.2 or 5.3 inches Ultra High Definition display (4K) or full HD flexible display, a 21MP (Ultra Pixel Sensor) camera that has a recording capacity set at 8K resolution (ready content for your 8K resolution TV), a 3300 to 3500 mAh battery as well as an Android 5.0 OS.

As for the pricing, the Galaxy S5 was released earlier this year at $850 without contract. Since Galaxy S6 has a bigger capacity than the earlier Galaxy model, it could be sold not lower than $900 per unit without a contract.

If all the reported specs of the Samsung Galaxy S6 are accurate, then it is safe to say that those who are planning to save up to upgrade their Galaxy S5 are in for a worthy treat once the device is ready for release early next year.
