Samsung might have indirectly confirmed that they are developing a Galaxy Note 8, based on the scheme that they are planning to introduce for Galaxy Note 7 owners.

Phone Arena spotted a press release, posted on Samsung South Korea, where the mobile device manufacturer announced a smartphone upgrade program for those who purchased the discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the country.

As per the press release, those who will choose to replace their Galaxy Note 7 with a Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, in compliance with the tech firm's recall order, will be allowed to upgrade their devices to Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy Note 8 when the upcoming devices come out next year.

The statement proved that the Samsung is still planning to come up with a new version of their flagship phablet device, despite all the negative publicity that hounded the Galaxy Note 7 since its release.

The company had no other choice but to discontinue shipping Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in the market and recall all the units that were distributed around the world because of the reports about the device's sudden combustion due to its defective battery.

Despite their initial correction by recalling the Galaxy Note 7 units and replacing it with new ones, the company continues to receive reports that the devices suddenly explode. This sparked speculations that the company's phablet phone product line will no longer continue. But based on the recent press release, the Galaxy Note line will remain under the company.

The press release also noted that Samsung's Galaxy Upgrade Program will not be offered for free. However, customers only need to play for half the price of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge to be able to avail the upgrade next year.

There are no reports yet if the Samsung Galaxy Upgrade Program in South Korea will also be available for other Samsung users around the world.
