'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' cast: Mads Mikkelsen reveals character

Mads Mikkelsen's roles in his upcoming films are shrouded in mystery, but just recently, he dropped a big bombshell about his character in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

During an interview with Standard Online, the "Hannibal" alum warned the anchor that he can tell "absolutely nothing" about the film, but went on to reveal a significant detail nonetheless.

Mikkelsen revealed his role in the film as he sang praises for his co-star Felicity Jones, who plays "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" protagonist Jyn Erso.

"I read the script and it was very beautiful and Felicity's playing a lovely, young and strong woman and I play her father," Mikkelsen said, immediately realizing that what he said was "too much."

Even though he has revealed who he is to Jones's character, Jyn Erso, it isn't much to take away from knowing that his character's name is still unknown and the fact that there's virtually nothing known about Jyn Erso except that she rebels.

Talking about the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" as a whole, Mikkelsen said that the film is "before anything you've ever seen in the Star Wars universe."

However, he was coy about whether or not Darth Vader will make an appearance in the movie. He did tease that "there are iconic characters in our film and also characters you have never heard of. It's a mix."

But if there's one villainous character not showing up in the "Star Wars" film, it's Snoke. Acting much like the Emperor, Snoke was introduced in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as the powerful being who seduced Ben Solo to the dark side.

On Twitter, Lucasfilm creative executive Pablo Hidalgo replied to an couple of inquiring fans athat Snoke won't be in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

As for the movie itself, he said that the film is "meant to be its own thing." Although it is connected "as far as being a Star Wars movie," it is actually "separated by decades from the new trilogy."
