"Rocket League" is arguably one of the games that has yet to be paralleled. Even after a few years into its release, more and more major updates are being added, and the huge player base the game has just gets glued to the game even more. This time, the game will finally get a much-awaited tournament mode.

Developer Psyonix has been considering this for a while, as there has been news of big updates this year since last September. In a recent blog post update, they shared the whole roadmap of updates they will be implementing, and one of its highlights is the tournament mode plus a beta for this new mode coming quite soon.

There is not much detail mentioned about tournaments, but there is not much to know anyway. "Play against other players in bracketed, single elimination tournaments," reads the post straightforwardly. This was listed in a Spring release. In February, on the other hand, is the beta test. The beta test will only be available on the PC via Steam.

Other than tournaments, another long-awaited update is the cross-platform feature. Thankfully, they added this as well as a future update. Unfortunately, the list dates it for April, so it may take a while before fans hear any more news about it. Before then, there is also a licensed premium downloadable content (DLC) coming out in March although nothing else is mentioned about it.

There also other notable minor updates mentioned. These include a Spring event, a lot of quality of life updates, and the ability to monitor connection quality with the servers. Support and enhancements were also made for the Switch both when docked and handheld. Xbox One X support will also be coming late 2018.

The post ends telling fans that there will be an update next week, Feb. 7, 2018, on all platforms. It does not mention if it will already add the tournament beta on Steam.
