While fans are already excited to see a longer "Rick and Morty" season 3, new reports claim that the fan-favorite adult animated show will not have 19 episodes as expected.
Based on the recent Twitter post of "Rick and Morty" co-creator and lead voice actor Justin Roiland, there is no truth to the rumor saying that the show will have 19 episodes in season 3. The first two seasons of the adult animation series only had 11 and 10 episodes, respectively.
But aside from the clarification, Roiland did not reveal any further details about the third season plot of the popular adult animated TV series. Series co-creator Dan Harmon instead shared previously with Den of Geek that the series will deal with the cliffhanger from season 2 where Rick brought himself to prison to pay for his crimes against the universe. However, it will not be the entire focus next season.
"I don't think anybody wants to do a third season that simply spends a whole bunch of episodes dealing with a situation that we created at the end of the second season," Harmon explained. "So I think that's a non-spoiler way of saying things should be okay pretty quickly."
"Rick and Morty" first aired in Adult Swim on December 2, 2013, featuring the misadventures of the odd, alcoholic scientist Rick and his gullible grandson Morty. The two normally spend their time doing interdimensional travels while maintaining their home. They were later on joined by Morty's 17-year-old sister Summer.
But while still waiting for a fresh episode from "Rick and Morty" season 3, fans can enjoy watching the new Carl's Jr. cheeseburger TV ad featuring Adult Swim's iconic characters.
The network has yet to announce the official release date of "Rick and Morty" season 3, but it is expected to come out in 2016.
