'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date delayed until PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox Project Scorpio launch?

After the rumors about the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" had been debunked, reports about the game's launch continue to exist.

Several reports claimed that Rockstar Games could be waiting for Sony Interactive to release PlayStation 4 Pro as well as Microsoft's upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio before they will announce any plans for the sequel of the critically-acclaimed Western-themed open world action-adventure game.

Back in April, a rumored map from "Red Dead Redemption 2" had been leaked by a source on NeoGaf, as reported by Tech Radar. The map, which was also pulled down immediately, featured the home of the Blackwater settlement at the Great Plains that is reportedly sitting on top of the "Red Dead Redemption" map. Since the map did not show any railroad in the area, it could mean that the next installment of the video game franchise could be a prequel instead of a follow up to the 2010-released game.

The report noted that several sources claimed the map's legitimacy, but Rockstar Games remains mum about the claims at this point.

While both the game developer and distributor Take-Two Interactive have yet to confirm if the sequel is under development at the moment, Take-Two's chief operating officer Karl Slatoff told Game Spot in 2013 that they still have a lot of unannounced titles under development, and the "Red Dead" franchise is one of the company's important titles. This could mean that they have several plans for the game in the future.

However, Expert Reviews UK noted that, since 2016 is nearing its end, it could be impossible to see the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" before the end of the year or even in 2017. Fans of the game might still have to wait until 2018 or 2019 to see their highly anticipated game out in the market if Rockstar Games really has plans to release a sequel in the future.
