After years of speculations, Rockstar Games seemed to have sparked further talks about "Red Dead Redemption 2" by posting cryptic images on social media.

The game studio first teased about a possible development of the second "Red Dead Redemption" game on Sunday, after a Rockstar logo on a familiar red background was posted on Twitter. Then they followed it up with a tweet of a photo showing the shadows of a group of cowboys amidst a bloody red horizon.

While Rockstar Games remains mum about the meaning of both tweets, fans believed that this is the game studio's way of announcing that the open-world western video game will finally have the much-awaited follow-up soon.

Polygon pointed out that the silhouette of the cowboys shown on the Twitter post had several resemblances with the popular characters of the original "Red Dead Redemption" game.

The one in the middle reportedly looks like the former outlaw named John Marston, while the man standing near the man in the center looks like Marston's nemesis Bill Williamson.

But other reports claimed that the game studio may not call their new western adventure game "Red Dead Redemption 2." According to a speculation from Telegraph UK, the new game might serve as a prequel to the original game.

The report mentioned that the rumored game will take place during the time when the Old West was still at its prime. This could mean that the new game will feature the days when John Marston was still a fugitive, to show how he developed the skills that he used in the first "Red Dead Redemption."

There is also a speculation about the possible inclusion of a multiplayer option in the next "Red Dead Redemption" game, just like Rockstar Games' other popular title, "GTA Online."

The game studio is expected to reveal more details about "Red Dead Redemption 2" in the coming days.
