Dominic Purcell expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response of fans in the upcoming reboot of "Prison Break" even before FOX airs its premiere episode.

On Instagram, Purcell shared the screenshot of the headline of an article from The Independent that was released on Sept. 6. Based on the article, the return of "Prison Break" is 20 times more anticipated compared to the other upcoming new TV shows.

The article reported that a study conducted by ListenFirst Media revealed that "Prison Break" reboot earned an exceptional 19.5 million social media engagements from May to August this year. It means that the show is 20 times more awaited by TV viewers than the other upcoming shows. NBC's upcoming drama "This Is Us" was hailed as the second most awaited TV show this season after it earned a total of 1.56 million social media mentions, while the "MacGyver" reboot was reported to be the list's third placer because of its 558,073 social media engagements during the given period.

"The numbers show that Prison Break's return to air is met with fervour from fans who have been missing the show for years," ListenFirst Media's co-CEO and co-founder Jason Klein said in the report.

The actor who portrays the role of Lincoln Burrows in the serial action thriller shared his appreciation to their fans, saying that he is humbled by their response to their return. He also said that he and the entire cast are also thrilled to be part of the amazing show.

Purcell had been through a lot while filming the fifth season of "Prison Break." He even broke his nose and suffered from several physical injuries while filming one of the action-packed scenes for the upcoming reboot.

Aside from Purcell, other original cast members will reprise their roles in the series including Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield, Sarah Wayne Callies as Sara Tancredi, Robert Knepper as T-Bag Bagwell, and Rockmond Dunbar as C-Note Franklin, among others.

FOX has yet to announce the premiere date of "Prison Break" season 5, but the series is expected to air in early 2017.
