"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" just came out over the weekend, but the new "Pokémon" games will reportedly have an upgrade made especially for Nintendo Switch called "Pokémon Stars" in 2017.

Eurogamer reported that multiple sources claimed that the upgraded game is already into development.

If the rumors turn out to be true, this will not be the first time that a third title will be released for the latest installment of "Pokémon" games, just like the "Pokémon Yellow" which came out after the "Pokémon Red and Blue" on Game Boy, as well as the "Pokémon Platinum" after the "Pokémon Diamond and Pearl" on Nintendo DS.

The report also mentioned that the rumored "Pokémon Stars" is being created by Game Freak, the same team that handled the development of the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" games.

There is also a report from NZGamer claiming that Game Freak decided to halt the production of "Pokémon Stars" during the final phase of development for "Pokémon Sun and Moon" so that they can focus on polishing the latter. Now that the games had been released, the team resumed their work on the third titled which will have new features that will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

Other speculations claimed that the "Pokémon Stars" could be played alongside the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" games through a cross-platform multiplayer mode between the soon-to-be-released Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS. The rumored game might also have the Pokémon Bank compatibility that will come to "Pokémon Sun and Moon" games in January 2017. This means that players can switch their Pokémon from the different installments of the game.

Rumors also claim that the brief appearance of a new Pokémon named Pikipek on the "Pokémon Sun and Moon" trailer in February also proved that the game developer will come up with a follow-up game for a console that supports higher definition.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have yet to comment on the validity of the rumors.
