Fans were expecting to finally learn the fate of "Person of Interest" during the recently concluded Television Critics Association press tour, but no announcement was made regarding the renewal of the show for season 6.
During Tuesday's Television Critics Association press tour held in Pasadena, CA., CBS entertainment president Glenn Geller revealed that they are currently focused on coming up with the best 13 episodes for "Person of Interest" season 5.
"We ordered 13 episodes, we hope to get them on this spring," Geller said. "That's what we're targeting right now. [Showrunners Jonah Nolan and Greg Plageman] have planned a terrific season. Can't wait for the fans of the show to see it. It'll be a real treat for viewers."
But when asked if the fifth season will be the last for the series, the network president said: "No, we haven't aired the show yet. I'm not sure."
Previously, series producer J.J. Abrams revealed that the writers of "Person of Interest" came up with a script for season 5 that could work as a series finale. But he also revealed that there are a lot of other things that they can develop if the show will be asked to continue.
The producer knows that the show could not last forever, but he still praised Nolan and Plageman for doing a good job in the series.
"It's a miracle to get a show on the air and to have it last that long is something that we should just be grateful for. But I do love that show and I would've loved to see that continue," Abrams shared.
The final schedule for "Person of Interest" season 5 this year has yet to be determined, but Geller said that the series will return for its fifth season in spring.
