'Person of Interest' season 5 spoilers: new clip shows The Machine's big problem

After the executive producer and cast of "Person of Interest" appeared during last week's 2015 New York Comic Con, a new trailer for the show's fifth season has been revealed.

Based on the trailer, Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) will try to revive The Machine after he shoves Her inside a briefcase to protect Her from the Samaritans at the end of the fourth season.

But it seems like The Machine's full function will not pick up in an instant, since the trailer shows that a powerful surveillance camera system is experiencing facing recognition bugs. This means that the upcoming season of CBS's sci-fi crime action series will be centered on rebuilding The Machine to help in preventing violent crimes.

The skillfully crafted trailer shows the brilliant acting prowess of actors Emerson, Jim Caviezel, Kevin Chapman, and Amy Acker, who slipped into one another's role as The Machine erroneously identified their faces.

The cast shared several juicy details about "Person of Interest" season 5 during the show's 2015 NYCC panel, including Finch's despair when his precious creation was compromised last season.

"Mr. Finch is in kinda of a bad place. All the years he's been programming the machine, he's been trying to keep that relationship non-personal, cool, professional. And yet, we see all this parental passion and caring," Emerson shared during the panel.

But while Finch's deep love for The Machine caused him to wallow in sadness in "Person of Interest" season 5, Acker's Root and Sarah Shahi's Sameen Shaw will be happy with how their relationship is working out.

However, Caviezel's character John Reese may not be as welcoming as Root when it comes to Shaw, since he is still unsure if he can still trust her because the team is still kept in the dark regarding the information about where she went when she mysteriously disappeared last season.

"Person of Interest" season 5 is expected to premiere in 2016.
