While CBS has yet to confirm whether the fifth season of "Person of Interest" will be its last, fans of Jonathan Nolan's sci-fi crime drama are already working on a petition to urge other networks or online streaming service providers to save the show.

The online petition posted on Change.org is asking CBS and other major TV networks like Warner Bros, NBC, and FOX, as well as streaming service site Netflix, to consider bringing back "Person of Interest" even for just one more season after its 13-episode season 5 airs its final episode next year.

According to the petition, "Person of Interest is one of the most unique shows on TV today. It has built a large fan base that reaches from America to China to Turkey and everywhere in between. The show is so great in fact that newer TV shows are copying it. We've built great friendships around this show. It entertains us, thrill us, makes us cry and makes us laugh. It gives us LGBT representation and gives us some of the truest representations of a mental disorder."

It also stated that fans will continue fighting for the show to stay alive even for just another season.

As of writing, the petition is less than 2,500 signatures away from its goal of 15,000 backers to show the networks how much they want to see "Person of Interest" for a longer period.

Meanwhile, the cast members of "Person of Interest" joined series showrunner Greg Plageman and producers Margot Lulick and Chris Fisher during the recently concluded 2015 New York Comic Con early this month to discuss what fans should look forward to in season 5.

One of the things that they talked about during the 2015 NYCC panel was the slow return of The Machine next season. However, The Machine is still broken, and it will take a while before it can function properly.

"Person of Interest" season 5 will start airing in 2016.
