'Overwatch' PTR news: Sombra getting much-awaited rework

In any online competitive game, balancing is always an issue. With this also comes a meta that many players follow to get a higher win rate. One character that has not been in the meta recently in Sombra. Finally, at least in the Public Testing Region (PTR), Sombra is getting a big update.

It is not exactly Sombra's skill kit that is the problem. Rather, it is the effectiveness of it in the current meta. While she is classified as an offense-type hero, her damage is not exactly as great as Tracer or Soldier: 76 who are usually the choices. She is being used more as a support but even then, she does not exactly have much of a place in the meta.

A lot of Sombra mains have been asking for a rework and finally, she gets it. Most of her kit gets a buff except probably one which is how she gets ult everytime she heals from health pack. Her weapon speed is decreased by 10 while her hacking speed increased by 0.15 seconds from 0.8 seconds to 0.65 seconds.

As for her main ability, her hacking ability, she can now hack a lot more skills now. She can simply disable any ability that requires players to press a button to activate it. This means that Genji's Wall Climb and Double Jump, Mercy's Angelic Descent, Hanzo's Wall Climb, Pharah's Hover Jets, and a lot more.

"The idea here is to take some power out of her ult (and awkwardness of ult gain through health packs,) and give her more power and usefulness in the rest of her kit," says Goodman in the official update post.

The new changes to Sombra will only be coming to the PTR. This means that if ever the changes gets rolled out to the main server, changes can still be made.
