Competitive multiplayer shooting game "Overwatch" is celebrating the holidays with a new event titled "Winter Wonderland." The event includes Christmas-themed skins and new game modes to try.

The event went live on Dec. 12 and will continue until Jan. 2, giving players enough time to enjoy the new game modes with their friends. This also ensures that those collecting the Christmas skins and holiday-themed rewards will have time to earn their rares without fretting too much over deadlines.

"Overwatch" uploaded the "Winter Wonderland" announcement trailer onto their YouTube channel on Dec. 12. The announcement trailer gave eager fans a quick look at the new Christmas-themed maps, snowball fights, and the new boss battle mode titled "Yeti hunter."

"Yeti Hunter" featured a large monster in metallic armor. While the trailer did not elaborate on what the new boss battle would be about, it showed the monster chasing after one of the "Overwatch" heroes.

According to Press Start and Tom's Hardware, the "Yeti Hunter" event is a six person brawl. Five players take on the role of the "Overwatch" hero Mei. Together, all the Mei players must work together to defeat the player who is in control of the Yeti. Both the players and the Yeti player have different goals.

The Yeti's goal is to collect meat in order to increase their strength and gain bonuses. Meanwhile, the goal of the Mei players is to stop the Yeti and defeat him with a Yeti trap. If the Yeti eats enough meat and grows powerful, he will become strong enough to resist the group's attacks. If that happens the Mei players will lose the "Yeti Hunter" challenge and the Yeti will win the game.

Meanwhile, the snowball fight is a more light-hearted six versus six challenge between players.

Aside from the new game modes, there will also be a variety of Christmas-themed skins to collect. Some of the skins available include Casual Hanzo, Snow Owl Ana, Avalanche Bastion, Jingle tracer, and more.
