Toward the end of the premiere episode of "Outlander" season 2, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) already earned the ire of a French nobleman. The animosity between the two will continue in the next episodes of the critically acclaimed series.

In the premiere episode, Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) encountered the rich but mysterious Comte St. Germain (Stanley Weber). But he and Claire were already at odds with each other after she declared that the crew members of his ship were infected with smallpox.

In an interview with Variety, Balfe revealed that Claire and the Comte's clash will continue as the season progresses. "The Comte and Claire, in the beginning it just feels like she's used her big mouth to get herself into trouble again and you see [him as] someone who just wants revenge, but as we progress in the season, you realize that there are darker things about the Comte St. Germain and it's a very interesting storyline," the actress revealed.

Meanwhile, episode 2, titled "Not in Scotland Anymore," will also center on the couple's growing presence inside the posh French society as they meet more people who can help them inch closer to their goal of stopping the Jacobite rebellion.

One of the people the couple will meet in the upcoming episode is Prince Charles (Andrew Gower), who could help them with their goals. However, preventing a rebellion will not be as easy as they want it to be.

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, "Life in Paris is not without its trials as Jamie struggles to triumph over the traumas of his past. A fortunate meeting with Jacobite leader Prince Charles presents opportunities, while the Duke of Sandringham's presence brings complications."

Simon Callow will portray the role of the Duke of Sandringham in season 2.

"Outlander" season 2 episode 2 airs on Starz on Saturday, April 16.
