The production for "Outlander" season 2 has officially wrapped up. Sam Heughan, who plays leading man Jaime, broke the news on Twitter. The actor did not forget to thank everyone involved in the making of the exciting new season.

"Big thank you to everyone who has worked on Season 2," Heughan tweeted. "All crew, extras and behind the scenes. What a year!" the star reminisced. Fans, of course, were quick to congratulate him for the milestone.

"Outlander" season 2 sees Jaime and Claire in the fancy avenues and structures of Paris, where they hope to erase the Jacobite Rebellion from the world's history. The recent promo images released for the new season hint that the couple's relationship will be steamier than ever.

"Last season you very much saw Claire and Jamie fall in love, and that was the story that we were telling, so you saw a lot of their first forays into that part of their relationship," Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire, told Entertainment Weekly.

With the two now married, Heughan believes that what Jaime and Claire have now is "a grown-up relationship," which will be told differently in the upcoming season. In fact, he believes that "Outlander" season 2 "is certainly a whole new show."

In previewing the new season, Balfe said that "[it] involves so much political weaving and maneuvering. [They're] trying to navigate their way through French high society. That's sort of the first hurdle that they face."

Apart from rewriting history and adjusting to the new place and time they are in, the pair will be dealing with so much more, including their imminent parenthood and the repercussions of the torture and rape Jamie had to endure due to Black Jack Randall's doing.

"Outlander" season 2 premieres on April 9 at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
