Viewers of "Orphan Black" saw a lot of death in season 3, but perhaps the most painful one was seen in the season finale wherein Cosima's (Tatiana Maslany) girlfriend Delphine (Evelyne Brochu) was shot right in the middle of her chest.

But it has not yet been confirmed if the Dyad scientist really met her demise since the show is known for leaving characters in the brink of death, only to find out later on that the character survived a fatal blow. Will Cosima find her beloved still alive and well in season 4?

Series co-creator Graeme Manson talked to The Hollywood Reporter about Delphine's condition, saying that they want to portray Cosima and Delphine's love story as true yet impossible. But because of the fatal gunshot wound, it is impossible to tell at the moment if character is alive or not.

Manson's co-creator John Fawcett also shared his opinion about Delphine's death in his interview with the Entertainment Weekly, saying that having to say goodbye to the character is very much needed for Cosima's story, especially in the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, fans of the Canadian sci-fi series were also shocked to find out that Rachel's mother Susan (Rosemary Dunsmore), who was long been presumed dead, is actually alive. This means that she is the only surviving creator of the Leda project. According to Manson, revealing that Susan still exists means that the mystery behind the clones can still move forward.

Fawcett also told Variety that they want to incorporate the vibe seen in "Orphan Black" season 1 in the upcoming season.

"I want from season four a vibe of season one again," he said. "I want a lot of that paranoia back, and Sarah following a first-person mystery, and a feeling of not knowing where we stand again, and having the audience not know where we stand."

He continued, "When Graeme and I talked about it, it was like, 'how do we give it a feeling of conclusion after three seasons and now push towards our bigger mystery?' We just wanted a reset after season three and a big emotional ending."

This could mean that the sci-fi drama will continue to feature mind-blowing plot twists in "Orphan Black" season 4.

The 10-episode season 4 of BBC America's "Orphan Black" is expected to premiere sometime in 2016.
