The reason why Merida (Amy Manson) is determined to teach Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) to be brave will be revealed in the next episode of "Once Upon a Time" season 5.
In the trailer for the episode titled "The Bear and the Bow," Merida will continue her task of turning Rumplestiltskin into a hero after Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) reminded her that her job is not finished yet.
Since the entire fifth season was spent on forcing Rumplestiltskin to train with her for combat, Emma ordered the Scottish princess to abduct and kill Belle (Emilie de Ravin) to force him to act and save his greatest love. But aside from Merida's threat, Rumple and Belle will also have to face a gigantic furious bear who seems to be determined to hurt them both. However, instead of stopping the bear from harming them, Rumple just laid there and said, "Do your worst."
But if Merida will not succeed in her mission to turn Rumple into the Dark Swan's hero, can she still save her twin brothers from their kidnappers from the United Clans?
In a recent interview with Zap2it, the actress who portrays the role of the heroine from Disney's "Brave" animated movie teased that more things should be expected in the coming episodes of "Once Upon a Time" season 5.
"She will be in DunBroch in episode 9. Episode 9 takes place solely in Dunbroch, whereas Merida's journey in this coming episode 6 starts off in Storybrooke and finishes in DunBroch," Manson revealed. "Obviously all those characters in 'Brave' have grown up as well. The teenagers are the ones that have kidnapped her brothers and plan to execute them. It's ransom — if Merida doesn't show up, they'll be gone."
While her main goal in Storybrooke is to rescue her brothers, the actress still has no idea what Merida's final objective is in "Once Upon a Time" season 5. "The last few episodes I've filmed she's asked to go on another mission with another character so that comes into play after episode 9. You'll find out what that is then," Manson said.
"Once Upon a Time" season 5 episode 6 airs on Sunday, Nov. 1, on ABC.
