Oculus Touch release date: Oculus Rift controllers's launch delayed

It seems like those who are eagerly waiting to get hold of the virtual reality experience will have to wait a little longer, since the controller for Oculus Rift headset will be shipped later than expected.

The Oculus Team admitted on their blog that they still need more time before they can finally drop the Oculus Touch controller because of the major advances that they pinpointed in the ergonomics of the device's hardware. These changes can reportedly make the Oculus Touch more user-friendly compared to their earlier plan.

The team also revealed that they are releasing larger numbers of pre-production drafts to provide more Touch hardware for developers who need it.

Aside from the delay in the release of the Oculus Touch controller, Oculus also revealed that that there will be more revolutionary content launches that will come together with the much awaited controller.

"We shared a handful of early previews at Oculus Connect 2 in September, but we can't wait to show you what's coming next," the blog post stated.

The Irvine, CA-based virtual technology first introduced the controller for the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display in June 2015. The Oculus Touch, which will be sold in pairs, serves as a handheld motion controller that comes with a joystick, several buttons, as well as two triggers than can be pushed for grabbing and firing.

Both the Oculus Touch and Oculus Rift were originally scheduled for release in Q1 of 2016, but only the Rift will push through with the plan.

In his Twitter account, Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey revealed that that they are still on track with the Oculus Rift production, saying: "Thrilled to share some news: Manufacturing continues to go well, and we are still on-target for an awesome Rift launch in Q1!"

The tech firm also revealed that it should start launching the pre-order period for the VR technology device soon.
