NY Giants NFL trade rumors 2017: Could the Giants still trade Eli Manning?

Following the termination of New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese, talks of Eli Manning's potential trade have hit a snag. However, that does not guarantee he is not going anywhere soon.

While he may have gotten his job back as the team's starting quarterback, Metro reports McAdoo and Reese's decision to bench Manning last month may have strained his relationship with the Giants. The two have already been shown the door, but the problem is that Giants co-owner John Mara signed off on their plan.

"If you want to blame anybody, you've got to blame me," Mara said. "I certainly had the power to overrule it if I wanted to and I chose not to do it."

Manning has been the starting quarterback of the team for 13 years, with a streak of 210 consecutive regular-season games including two Super Bowl victories. However, he was benched in the middle of this year's underwhelming season when his team went with veteran backup QB Geno Smith who, according to the publication, was not able to the team to a victory in a very winnable match against the Oakland Raiders.

Following the Giants' decision, he has been the subject of trade rumors. He has expressed his desire to stay with the team but he is not really sure what the future holds.

''Right now, I'm just worried about this last game and then kind of go from there and see what happens,'' Manning said in a statement. ''It's a physical game, so you always treat it like it's your last. So, I'm just going about it, try to play well and move the offense.''

If the NY Giants ends the season with a high enough draft pick to choose a new quarterback, then Manning's days in New York may indeed be already numbered. One thing is sure, though: he is far from retiring just yet. He believes he will have other opportunities out there to prove he has some solid years left in his Hall-of-Fame-worthy career.

Right now, talks of where he is headed if traded are sparse. However, USA Today says some logical destinations for him would be Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, and New Orleans Saints.
