"The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus talks about his role in the upcoming video game, "Death Stranding," by acclaimed producer Hideo Kojima.
In a recent interview with B&H Photography and Podcast, Reedus breaks silence on the coming psychological thriller, open-world adventure game.
"The concept is so mind blowing, because it's not like 'Kill everybody and win the game!' It's a connecting thing. It's like the opposite. It's so ahead of its time, and there're elements of social media in it, and the idea is that ... So many games and so many parts of millennial culture are being alone in a room, and you lose contact, physical contact, with people. This is after that and the re-establishing of that physical contact. It's super, super interesting.," Reedus tells B&H.
Reedus goes on to praise the accomplished producer saying he was "down to do anything" with him, pertaining to Kojima's ideas. Kojima is a well-established video game producer whose most notable works include the "Metal Gear" series and "Castlevania" series. Kojima is known for his affinity for exploring new perspectives and being a thinking-out-of-the-box producer with a habit of pushing boundaries.
Reedus himself is a big fan of art, being an artist himself. Reedus is the author of photography book "The Sun is Coming Down Like a Big Bald Head," a sculptor, a director and an actor. The two of them together make for a likely astonishing game experience as can be seen on the game reveal trailer from The Game Awards in Dec. 2017.
"Death Stranding" is an open-world action game and psychological thriller, with viewers comparing it to "Interstellar" and "Black Mirror." Its most interesting feature by far is its employing of elements from social media, as Reedus has commented.
No official release date for "Death Stranding" has been announced. The game was first announced in 2016, and has spent two years in development. Fans can only expect it to be a well-polished gem.
