Nintendo has recently given its fans a first glimpse of the brand new Nintendo Labo. A line of build-and-play experiences. Nintendo Labo is a do-it-yourself game that is slated for an April 20 release.

The game itself is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and a first look trailer was uploaded to Nintendo's YouTube channel on Jan. 17. Almost three minutes long, the first glimpse of the Nintendo Labo starts with what appears to be a cardboard box. The person in the video follows a set of instructions that transforms the box into a piano before inserting the Nintendo Switch and the Joy-con controllers into specific compartments. The video then shows all of the parts working in tandem. Now that the Nintendo Switch is in place, pressing the cardboard keys results in actual piano sounds.

It does not end there. The video goes on to show the person creating cardboard houses and cardboard people, each with their own designated compartments for the Nintendo Switch and Joy-con controller.

The house turns into an interactive game once the Switch is placed inside, and the cardboard person becomes a moving robot once the Joy-con controller is attached to its back.

It is an interactive build and play take on games, with the official tagline from the Nintendo Labo's website being: "Make. Play. Discover." With the upcoming Nintendo Labo, gamers everywhere will not just be buying games to play, they will be making things by hand and bringing their creations to life on the Nintendo Switch's screen. It is a very interactive way to play video games.

More information is available on Nintendo's website.

On the official Nintendo Labo page, Nintedo states that one of the project's aims is to stir up creativity. There are a number of different DIY kits to choose from, and aside from that, players can find different ways to do things and come up with their own games as well.

The Variety Kit is currently available for pre-order for $69.99 while the Robot kit is available for pre-order for $79.99.
