Will the wait for Nintendo NX be over soon?

Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shinbu recently reported that Nintendo's new president Tatsumi Kimishima shared their plans for the gaming company for 2016.

Kimishima revealed that he would like to see Nintendo to make 2016 an interesting year by unveiling innovative ideas that will be introduced to the gaming industry. He said that Nintendo aims to bring the industry forward and continue coming up with more surprises for the fans.

But those who are eagerly waiting for the latest update regarding the gaming company's new gaming console will be delighted to hear that more details about the Nintendo NX, dubbed the "next-generation dedicated game console," are expected to be unveiled this year.

Talks about the new platform from Nintendo began when the Japanese gaming giant's late CEO Satoru Iwata announced via DeNA in March 2015 that they are "developing a game hardware platform with an entirely new concept under the developmental codename NX."

Kimishima also mentioned in an earlier interview with Time that NX will not be another version of Wii U.

"It's something unique and different. It's something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base," the Nintendo president said.

However, the company chose to remain silent about the upcoming game console after the initial announcement. Nintendo also asked fans to wait until 2016 to learn more about the upcoming product.

But Kimishima's statement did not guarantee that the Nintendo NX will be released in 2016. He also did not mention other details like the console's features during his latest press update. But he revealed that Nintendo will launch its first-ever smartphone app sometime in March. This could mean that the other anticipated announcement regarding "Pokémon Go" will also be revealed at the same time.
