After the surprising proposal of Schmidt (Max Greenfield) to Cece (Hanna Simone) that capped off the fourth season of "New Girl," the plot of FOX's comedy sitcom will take a little detour from focusing on the life of the bubbly middle school teacher Jess Day (Zooey Deschanel) to highlight the leveled-up relationship of the newly-engaged couple.

Early reports claimed that Deschanel will have to miss the filming of the first few episodes of "New Girl" season 5 since she is currently on a maternity break after having given birth to her first daughter with husband Jacob Pechenik in Aug. 8. Series creator Elizabeth Meriweather previously told The Hollywood Reporter that the first episode of the season will actually be titled "No Girl" to signify Jess' absence in the series.

The first episode will also feature Schmidt and Cece's engagement party, where the rich, uptight Jewish guy will finally meet the family of his sexy, Indian fiancée. It was also reported that Schmidt and Cece will have to deal with a lot of troubles along the way, especially since her traditionalist Indian mother Priyanka Parikh (Anna George) and his very Jewish mother Louise (Nora Dunn) do not seem pleased about their relationship.

Meanwhile, the actor who portrays the role of Schmidt landed a new role which required him to have drastic changes in his looks. Greenfield allegedly lost almost 30 pounds for his role in the upcoming season of Ryan Murphy's hit horror anthology "American Horror Story: Hotel."

Murphy talked about Greenfield's role in a recent interview with TV Line, saying, "He plays an addict who checks into the hotel and tangles with Sarah Paulson. I said [to him], 'I have a feeling that you can and want to do something really f***ed up.' And he said, 'How did you know?'"

Aside from losing weight, Maxwell is reported to have changed the color of his hair from the usual dark shade to a lighter blonde color.

"New Girl" season 5 will air every Tuesday at 9 p.m. on FOX.
