"NCIS" season 12 may not be airing this week, but its return on March 10 will prove that the next episode is worth the wait.
In the upcoming episode titled "The Artful Dodger," Tony DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) father, Anthony DiNozzo Sr. (Robert Wagner), will return to share his art expertise with his son's team.
According to spoilers, the original DiNozzo with drop by the NCIS headquarters to surprise his son, but his sudden appearance in the office becomes instrumental in helping them solve the latest murder case that they are working on.
The official synopsis for the "NCIS" season 12 episode 17 reads:
"Evidence in an NCIS murder case reveals a rare painting on loan had been swapped for a fake, prompting DiNozzo, Sr. to share his knowledge and contacts of the black market art world with the team."
This means that instead of a carefree visit, the older DiNozzo has to look into his own art black market network to help the younger DiNozzo solve an impending case.
This will not be the first time that the legendary actor will play the role of the DiNozzo senior. According to EnStarz, Wagner already appeared in a total of five episodes in the series, including last season's "Dressed to Kill" episode.
Series creator Gary Glasberg also talked about Wagner's return in an interview with Fox News early this year.
"Right now, we are starting a new episode with Robert Wagner. That will be coming up a little later in the spring. I feel that it just adds to Michael's already terrific performance to see how Tony deals with family situations and other relationships," Glasberg teased about the older DiNozzo's return.
Tony and Senior are known to show an incredible on-screen partnership since the series introduced the tandem several seasons ago.
"NCIS" season 12 episode 17 airs on March 10.
