Expect to see more exhilarating action-packed scenes and legendary musical icons featured in the sophomore season of "NCIS: New Orleans" when the show returns to the small screen Tuesday night.
Launched in September 2014, the latest spin-off series of CBS' long-running action crime and police procedural drama is up for a second season after receiving an average of 17.42 million viewers during season 1.
Fans of the show will immediately see the team led by Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) get back into action during the premiere episode of "NCIS: New Orleans."
CBS released the official synopsis for the premiere episode titled "Sic Semper Tyranis," which reads:
"After a military convoy is bombed on a New Orleans bridge, Pride and the team will plan a dangerous undercover operation to retrieve a stolen missile and prevent an attack on a U.S. Naval ship."
Pride's team is also allegedly growing this season, after the network decided to bring back Shalita Grant's character Sonja Percy permanently.
Grant shared with NOLA.com how she was notified of her role's fate when her final scene for season 1 finished its final shoot. According to the actress, the crew members gathered around her as part of their tradition to applaud for finishing her last scene for the series.
Series executive producer and director James Hayman immediately silenced the show's crew to make an announcement, saying: "Let's give Shalita a hand. She's finished."
At that point, the actress felt that her character's stint in the New Orleans branch of NCIS had ended, but the executive producer blurted out right after that "it's not the end, because she's our new series regular."
Daryl Mitchell, the actor who portrays the recurring role of Patton Plame, the team's computer expert, also returns as a series regular this season.
The first episode for "NCIS: New Orleans" season 2 will also feature the guest appearance of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and six-time Grammy Award winner Mac "Dr. John" Rebennack as himself. He will reportedly perform in the episode.
