'Nashville' season 4 renewed, release date: What to expect

After weeks of speculations about the show's future, ABC's country musical series "Nashville" has finally been renewed by the network.

A lot of things have going in the series, and it would be impossible to get to the bottom of it all if the show is going to be cancelled by the end of season 3. One of the biggest plots in the current season is Juliette Barnes' (Hayden Panettiere) capacity to become a mother while striving hard to achieve her ambitions.

During the penultimate episode of "Nashville" season 3, Juliette was bent on being in the spotlight and she worked hard to make a new album. But she neglected her newborn daughter Cadence in the process. Her baby daddy Avery (Jonathan Jackson) and assistant Emily (Kourtney Hansen) believed that she is going through something, which her doctor diagnosed as post-partum depression. Juliette simply shrugged it off, and continued to record her new songs in the studio.

Will Juliette be a better mother to Cadence in season 4?

Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) refuses to give up on finding the cure for Deacon's (Charles Esten) cancer. When his sister Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) refused to donate her liver to save her brother's life, Rayna thought that their final hope was taken away from them. But Beverly later on agreed, which means that Deacon can have a new lease in life.

Will's (Chris Carmack) sexuality might also be explored in the upcoming season since a pending scandal is threatening to unveil his real identity. Will has been doing everything that he can to cover his relationship with Kevin (Kyle Dean Massey), but a scandalous photo showing the two of them kissing surfaced. It could affect his life, particularly his relationship with his father (Rex Linn).

The season 3 finale of "Nashville" will air on May 13. The show is slated to return with season 4 in the latter part of the year.
