While fans already know that the life of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar is already numbered when "Narcos" returns for season 2, they are still waiting for the announcement about the show's release date.

The production for Netflix's biographical crime drama thriller wrapped up in May, according to executive producer Eric Newman.

According to the showrunner, they made sure that all the little details about the death of the most influential drug lord will be included on the show since they based it from the real-life accounts of his death.

"Escobar had a photographer who was with him and there are incredible photos taken by DEA agent Steve Murphy at the time of his death," Newman said during a press panel appearance in Hollywood in May. "We've recreated the actual death scenario based on those pictures so it's as close as we can be."

The Medellin drug cartel leader is being portrayed by Brazilian actor Wagner Moura. The cast also includes Boyd Holbrook as DEA Agent Steve Murphy and Pedro Pascal as DEA Agent Javier Peña. Both agents are tasked to capture Escobar at all cost.

Since Escobar had escaped La Catedral prison at the end of the first season, it means that Escobar's imminent death is about to happen. In a previous interview with Slash Film, Newman revealed that they have to feature his death to make the show as accurate as possible.

"At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live. That's not something we can change. To stretch that out beyond another season would be disingenuous of us. That story was always designed to have an ending," the showrunner said.

While Netflix continues to keep mum regarding the rest of the details of "Narcos" season 2, speculations claim that the series will be released by the video streaming service provider sometime in August 2016.
