A treat will be in store for "Mortal Kombat X" fans next month, game director Ed Boon said.

Boon teased a "cool" announcement regarding "Mortal Kombat X". Based on the capitalized letter on the game director's post, the news will be unveiled during the EVO 2016 event in Las Vegas on July 15-17.

Fans of the video game expect that the announcement will have something to do with the highly anticipated "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack 3, since news about the expansion pack were sidelined after NetherRealm seemed to focused more on their other upcoming fighting game "Injustice 2" over the past months.

But Boon earlier responded to a fan's compliment about "Injustice 2" on Twitter to clarify the speculations that the game studio took away their focus on the development of the third DLC for "Mortal Kombat X" to concentrate on the new game. This means that the third Kombat Pack will be out in the market in the coming days.

The Kombat Pack 1, which contains new characters like "Friday the 13th" Jason Voorhees, Predator, Tremor from "Mortal Kombat: Special Forces" and "Mortal Kombat 4" Tanya, was released on March 13, 2015. A new character named Tri-Borg joined "Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance" character Bo' Rai Cho, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" character Leatherface, and "Alien" character Xenomorph in the Kombat Pack 2 DLC, which was released on Dec. 3, 2015.

Since both DLC packs came out with a lot of interesting individuals to add to the growing roster of playable characters in the game, fans of "Mortal Kombat X" are also expecting to see a list of new characters in the game.

At the moment, details about the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X" Kombat Pack 3 are still under wraps. But NetherReal will reveal more information about the expansion pack next month.
