Despite claims that Rebecca Ferguson will reprise her role as Ilsa Faust in "Mission: Impossible VI," director Christopher McQuarrie said that the deal with the actress is not yet set in stone.

According to a report from Showbiz 411, Ferguson's appearance in the next installment from the "Mission: Impossible" movie franchise is already a done deal. But in an interview with Cinema Blend, McQuarrie said that reports about the reprisal of Ilsa Faust's role did not come from him or any of his team.

According to the movie director, those who want to learn the real story about the upcoming film should follow him on Twitter since he will share the developments of the film there.

McQuarrie himself will return to the franchise after helming "Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation," released in July 2015.

The director told Slash Film about his plans for the upcoming movie.

"I'm not a filmmaker interested in stasis. I really want to grow and push myself," McQuarrie explained. "I think if you look at the three films I've done — from The Way of the Gun to Jack Reacher to Mission: Impossible — I think it's very clear there's a distinct voice that runs through them, and they're each sort of expanding, in terms of the storytelling and use of technology."

McQuarrie also revealed that he will apply one of the lessons that he learned while doing "Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation."  According to the filmmaker, movies do not always need to have large-scale explosions or massive car wrecks to make them memorable. "You can make a bigger movie with less, and I'm determined to do something leaner, less heavily reliant on plot, and a little stripped down," the director said.

Aside from the director, lead star Tom Cruise will also return and star in "Mission: Impossible VI," which will start filming in 2016.
