After announcing back in December that "Minecraft" will be given a playable story mode, Telltale Games recently announced that "Minecraft: Story Mode" will also be released for the Nintendo Wii U. The popular puzzle game from Mojang will be given a stand-alone episodic adventure game by the same studio that developed a number of graphic adventure game series that are based on TV or movie titles.

Initially planned to be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, Android, iOS, and Android Fire TV, the upcoming serialized game will now have a version that is compatible with Nintendo's latest gaming console.

"Minecraft: Story Mode" will follow the adventures of Jesse (Patton Oswalt) and his friends in their quest for The Order of the Stone and save the world from being destroyed by the enemies. The characters are reporttedly designed to symbolize the different types of players who enjoyed the original game. It will also come with the same signature feature of other Telltale Games, where all decisions made will have a big impact in the game.

Job Stauffer, Telltale's director of creative communications, revealed to The Verge that the studio knows that "Minecraft" players already have an idea how to craft, hunt, build, survive, and play with friends in the sandbox adventure game.

"But imagining those ideas as happening through living characters in conversations — friends trying to stick together, aspiring to do something legendary, or simply trying to have fun building something together – it becomes a completely different way of experiencing everything you've already done in this universe, or perhaps even things you have yet to do," Stauffer added. "In that way, certainly we're shedding light on some things not every player may be aware of."

The first episode of "Minecraft: Story Mode" is slated to be released later this year.
