'Microsoft Surface Pro 5' release date rumors: device expected to have 2017 release with Intel Kaby Lake

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 might not arrive until next year. Microsoft

More information on the specs and launch date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 continue to come out. The latest scoop about the rumored two-in-one device claims that Microsoft will be releasing it as early as June.

The Surface Pro 4 came with glaring issues, the most notable of which prevented the device from waking up properly from sleep mode. This spoiled an otherwise amazing run for the product line.

If Microsoft is looking to redeem itself with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, and as an added bonus, steal the thunder from the purported MacBook Pro 2016, a June update makes sense.

However, other rumors indicate that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be released next year to give way to the Redmond-based company's big plans for the hybrid.

According to reports, Microsoft will be waiting for the release of the upcoming Kaby Lake processors, Intel's next big thing after the Skylake, which is the unit used in the Microsoft Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 4.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with USB 3.1 support should a Kaby Lake processor power it up. On top of this, the chipset should boost the laplet's 4K video playback performance. The Kaby Lake processors are expected to ship later this year, which eliminates the possibility of a June release.

On the display department, rumor has it that the next line of Surface Pro will sport a display with Ultra HD resolution. The device is also expected to be packaged with a Surface Pen with rechargeable AAAA batteries.

Lastly, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is said to be awaiting the release of the Redstone 2 for Windows 10. Being the second update for the operating system, the Redstone 2 will introduce loads of features that Microsoft is reportedly planning to see in action in the new laplet.

According to reports, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to be out by spring next year.
