The highly anticipated release of the next Surface Pro hybrid device might happen in July, if the rumors turn out to be accurate.
According to reports, the current Surface Pro 3 line has been offered at discounted prices, which could mean that its successor will find its way into retail stores very soon.
Just recently, as reported by Android Origin, the Surface Pro 3 featuring an Intel Core i5 processor with 128 GB internal storage and 4 GB RAM could be purchased at $899 instead of the original price of $999, while the one with an Intel Core i5 processor that comes with a 256 GB built-in storage and 8 GB RAM, originally priced at $1299, could be purchased for only $1,149. However, these deals from the Microsoft Store already lapsed, and the devices returned to their original prices.
Another indication that the Surface Pro 4 is making its way is the impending release of the Windows 10 operating system. Reports are claiming that the tablet will be released once Windows 10 comes out. And since there is a chance that the OS will be launched in July, many expect that the new hybrid would also be unveiled by then or shortly after.
"With the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up," AMD's president and CEO Lisa Su stated during AMD's earnings call this month, as quoted by The Verge.
On the other hand, there is also a possibility that the device would come out sometime in October.
Gadget analyst Paul Mueller told The Inquistr, "The Surface Pro 3 is selling just as well as it did when it first came out. Even though people expected a June or July release for the Pro 4, it probably won't happen until Windows 10 is released. That way, Microsoft could capitalize on both Windows 10 and the new Surface Pro at the same time."
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is expected to be released in two versions, namely a 12-inch model and a 14-inch one. Both are said to feature a 2160 x 1440 pixel LCD resolution and can have a maximum internal RAM capacity of 16 GB.
