Microsoft Surface Book 2 rumors: device is set to arrive in June with powerful next-gen Intel processor

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 will be quite an upgrade to the pictured current version when it is released. Microsoft

Last year, Microsoft dipped its toes in the laptop waters, a move that proved lucrative to the Redmond-based company. Microsoft Surface Book was born and fans of the software giant fell in love with it.

It's only been six months since the laptop was released but users are looking forward to a sequel dubbed the Microsoft Surface Book 2. At the moment, the tech firm is mum about the device, but it is definitely on the cards.

According to Microsoft expert Mary Jo Foley, the Surface Book 2 might not see the light of day until spring next year. The software giant is allegedly waiting on new Intel processors dubbed as the Kaby Lake.

This chip is an upgrade to the Skylake, which is expected to be the one under the hood of the rumored MacBook Pro 2016. However, it won't be out until later this year, which is why it is highly likely that users will hold on to the original Surface Book for a while.

This, of course, is not bad at all as per, Business Insider, who loved the device and is convinced that the first ever Microsoft laptop blew Apple's MacBook line out of the water.

Speaking of which, rumors have arise about Microsoft reportedly launching the Microsoft Surface Book 2 earlier than expected so as to compete with the new MacBook Pro.

Along with the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Microsoft Surface Book 2 is expected to be launched this June, the same month the MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to be unveiled.

If Microsoft is going for it, expect the coveted Kaby Lake to be absent from the device. It would also be hardly an upgrade since the current Surface Book already has Skylake.

At the moment, Microsoft's plans for its fresh new laptop line are unclear. What's definite, though, is that many users are excited for the developments in the laptop series.

Should the Microsoft Surface Book 2 be launched next year, users who want a Microsoft-made laptop are advised to take advantage of the $150 discount on the laptop with the Intel i5 configuration. This promo runs until May 14.
