Miami Heat trade rumors: Josh McRoberts sticking with Heat because of unique trade situation?

According to the latest Miami Heat trade rumors, the franchise is looking to deal Josh McRoberts, but circumstances won't allow them to do so.

The Heat, which have been doing intense rebuilding after Dwyane Wane bolted, is in a tight spot with regards to the trading possibilities, more accurately the lack thereof, involving McRoberts.

Ira Winderman of The Orlando Sun-Sentinel stated that the Heat already tried and failed to trade the power forward last year to free up their salary cap and keep Wade, and even though they want to trade him off this time, it might not be possible.

"If word from a party close to that situation was correct, the Heat quite literally could not even give McRoberts away, that no outside team wanted to take on his salary-cap hits that include a player option for 2017-18," Winderman said.

"Because of his player option, if the Heat cut McRoberts this season they automatically would be on the hook for his entire 2017-18 salary counting against their cap," the sports analyst went on to say.

That being said, Winderman says it will be an interesting sight to see how the Miami Heat will approach McRoberts next season, knowing the advantages in salary cap the club can get should he pass up his player option.

According to CBS Sports, other teams are just waiting for Miami to waive him, which will be unlikely as it will involve paying $6 million for next year.

The publication adds that if he fully restores his health following the injury that pushed his performance with the Heat to dip, he could be a valuable player. For now though, it is looking like McRoberts will stay put.

In other Miami Heat trade rumors, it is being said that Heat president Pat Riley is "intrigued" in bringing in Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers by trading off its very own Goran Dragic.
