'Mercenary Kings' is returning on Feb. 6 with a new Reloaded Edition

Side-scrolling action shooter game "Mercenary Kings" was originally released on March of 2016. Two years after, the game is releasing a new edition called "Mercenary Kings: Reloaded," and the best part is, those who purchased the game in the past will be getting the new edition for free.

The Reloaded edition is slated for a Feb. 6 release. An announcement trailer for it was also uploaded to the developer's – Tribute Games – YouTube channel on Jan. 25. A little over a minute long, the video showcased some of the old character, alongside announcing the arrival of two new recruits and a handful of brand new items. The trailer also featured some of the game's character and level design, while giving a fans a quick glimpse of the combat mechanics and the game's in-game menus.

The new characters in the reloaded edition are former Olympic athelete Frigg and robot CZAR.

The Reloaded edition of "Mercenary Kings" will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Aside from new characters and new gear, new quests will also be added to the game, meaning that aside from more characters to master and more play styles to try, old and new fans alike will also have more in-game content to finish this time around.

While waiting for the Reloaded Edition, curious players can opt to purchase "Mercenary Kings" from the Steam store. The synopsis on the Steam page reads: "In this frantic 2D action game, you are part of the Mercenary Kings, the most skilled team of warriors-for-hire on Earth, but when your comrades have fallen and the fearsome forces of CLAW have seized an island-wide top secret Laboratory Base, you must do what it takes to stop them. But you are not going in unprepared! Your back-up is made of a crew of rogue geniuses and experts of their field! Able to craft & customize guns'n'blades or upgrading body armor, you have never been this ready to join the fight."

The game can be played alone or with friends.
