'Mass Effect Andromeda' release date news: EA hints at launch date for game

 BioWare

BioWare continues to exert efforts in keeping much about its much-awaited game "Mass Effect Andromeda" a secret. While some of the folks in the game studio share a thing or two on the progress on social media, it is only this time that a release date detail was dropped.

In its latest financial report picked up by Eurogamer, EA, which will be publishing the game, hinted at when the latest iteration of the hit space exploration franchise will be out and about as well as other titles it will release.

"An all-new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays, we're excited to have a new 'Titanfall' experience coming from our friends at Respawn -- and of course, 'Mass Effect Andromeda' from the team at BioWare will launch later in the fiscal year."

That being said, the highly anticipated title should be out within 14 months as the fiscal year runs April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017. By that time, "Mass Effect Andromeda" should have already hit the shelves.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen narrowed this timeframe down by saying that the game is expected to arrive by the second half of the fiscal year, which means that the action role-playing third-person shooter could actually be out October 2016 at the earliest.

"We're not yet announcing when 'Titanfall' or 'Mass Effect Andromeda' will come, but you should assume that's in the back half of the year as well because the second quarter [July-September] is so dominated by our sports titles," Jorgensen said via Gamespot.

Not much is known about "Mass Effect Andromeda" at the moment although BioWare is making great progress, considering developer Cameron Lee has already played the first hour of the installment.

Lee said that BioWare is hard at work to produce a "great" game. In fact, the title has been carved enough for Lee to say that it can make players "hyperventilate."
