'Mass Effect 4' rumors: Release date, plot, and missing characters rumors

A lot of rumors have been going around about the release date of the much awaited "Mass Effect 4" game, but BioWare warns that fans should not believe everything they hear or read about the sci-fi third person role playing game without any official word from them.

According to BioWare Edmonton and Montreal top executive Aaryn Flynn, all details that did not come from them should not be taken seriously.

"That's all going to come out soon," the executive pointed out during an interview with Eurogamer.

However, the developer of the commercially successful "Mass Effect" series offered a teaser for the upcoming game during the 2014 San Diego Comic Con back in July.

One of the things that BioWare disclosed about the upcoming game is its indirect plot with the original storyline of the first "Mass Effect" trilogy that first came out back in 2007.

Another detail that directly came from the developers is the possible inclusion of aliens in the game plot, after series producer Michael Gamble posted something back in Sept.10 that is believed to be a reference to the new "Mass Effect" game.

Gamble said, "I've never seen salarians look so damn good."

On the other hand, there are speculations going around about the possible exclusion of the original protagonist Shepard in the new game. Though the sources of this news cannot explain why Shepard would be missing in "Mass Effect 4," some are guessing that his original story arc was already concluded at the end of the third installment.

There are also reports saying that the upcoming game will not be called "Mass Effect 4" at all.

Air Herald mentioned that BioWare Montreal is planning to release the game with a new name because it will have a new plot, a new set of characters, as well as a different kind of adventure that is not similar to the first "Mass Effect" trilogy. That is why they want to give it a fresher identity.

BioWare is still keeping the release date of "Mass Effect 4" a mystery, but rumors are rife about the possible release of its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions in October 2015.
