Maddie Ziegler recently parted ways with "Dance Moms," which she starred in since the show's inception in 2010. It was only this time that she spoke about her exit and what pushed her to go solo.
In an interview with Seventeen Magazine, Ziegler said that although it was a "hard decision," she chose to leave the show because it was "getting too stressful." The 13-year-old dance superstar also always felt pressure "to be the best in the room."
Leaving "Dance Moms" definitely gave Ziegler the legroom to control what happens in her career.
"Now, I feel like I'm so free," the dancer admitted.
Ziegler has always been one of the biggest fan favorites on the show and was even regarded as dance instructor Abby Lee Miller's star student.
Miller has admitted that while it was a very tough decision, she is convinced that Maddie made the right call. And since Ziegler will still be in her studio, she hopes that they will be able to work together again.
Indeed, leaving "Dance Moms" did not keep Ziegler away from Miller. In fact, the dance prodigy reunited with her dance coach and the Abby Lee Dance Company for the Dance to the Music 2016 concert.
The event will be held next week, July 9 and the ALDC including Ziegler and her little sister Mackenzie (who also left "Dance Moms") are rehearsing for it, as shown in a clip shared by Miller on Instagram.
Ziegler has been very busy leading up to her exit from "Dance Moms" and post-exit. She was filming "The Book of Henry," directed by Colin Trevorrow, and is currently the youngest judge to ever get a spot in the "So You Think You Can Dance?" panel.
She also has an upcoming film, "Sister," which she worked on with artist and her good friend Sia, whose music videos feature Ziegler.
