The end is almost near for AMC's period drama "Mad Men," which means that the last seven episodes will be airing very soon.
According to series creator Matt Weiner in an interview with the New York Daily News, each of the last seven episodes will appear like it is the last. This strengthens the fans' speculations that all the remaining episodes will conclude the dangling plots left during the first half of season 7.
Spoilers claim that the last seven episodes will concentrate on the main characters of the series, particularly Jon Hamm's Don Draper, Elisabeth Moss' Peggy Olson, John Slattery's Roger Sterling, Christina Hendrick's Joan Harris, January Jones' Betty Draper-Francis, as well as Vincent Kartheiser's Pete Campbell.
Hamm's character is placed in the center of the show, and he feels that playing the role of a highly creative businessman is a highlight of his career.
"Creatively, getting to do what we did and what I got to do in playing this person, and tangentially, this amazing group of people that I got to know, became for better or worse, but mostly better, a significant part of my life. There are not a lot of jobs you can point to, at least in our world, that have that effect. This experience has been unequivocally wonderful, and I'll miss it," Hamm said, as quoted by the Calgary Herald.
Jones, on the other hand, described the air in the set during the last few taping days of the series. According to the actress, the entire cast and crew were highly emotional.
"I kind of knew a little bit of what was going to happen in the last script. The whole last few weeks I was a mess. Anything made me cry. It was hard. It was a beautiful story. It was perfect, in a way. I read it over and over. I didn't want it to be the last time. Sometimes I'll still read it," she added.
"Mad Men" will run its last seven episodes starting April 5.
