MacBook Air 2016 release date, specs rumors: Apple to unveil new laptop on Oct. 25?

The latest MacBook Air in the market Apple official website

The official announcement about the release date of MacBook Air 2016 might be just around the corner if rumors are to be believed.

Based on speculations from different sources, Apple is expected to shed more light about the release of MacBook Air 2016 in an event scheduled this month.

According to a report from Forbes, the director of Table and Notebook PC at HIS Markit Technology Rhoda Alexander believed that the production of the next-generation MacBook Air and the new line of MacBook Pro began in the second calendar quarter of the year. Because of this, she projected that the 13.3-inch and 15.4-inch MacBook Pro, as well as the 13.3-inch MacBook Air, will be launched sometime in late September or October 2016.

But contrary to other reports claiming that the new line of MacBook Air will be equipped with Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor, Alexander said that it may not be possible because of the rumored production period. This could mean that the Cupertino-based tech firm will only use the Intel Skylake processor at this time.

Other speculations claimed that the MacBook Air product line might be discontinued. According to MacWorld UK, there could be a big chance to see the end of the laptop's cycle since its 11-inch model is about to retire.

But Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly sent an email to a MacRumors reader regarding the fate of the laptops. Based on the email, Cook stated that the people from Apple "love the Mac," and the company remains "very committed to it." He also asked the fan to stay tuned for further announcements regarding the product.

If the tech giant will announce the release of MacBook Air 2016 in the coming days, they might be able to do so during Apple's Earning Call that will be held on Oct. 25.

At the moment, the company remains mum about the confirmation of the said reports.
