Windows 10 update coming to Lumia smartphones soon

Microsoft confirmed that all Windows phones that run using the Windows Phone 8 operating system and its newer versions will be having the Windows 10 upgrade.  The announcement was posted in the official Twitter account of Microsoft Lumia smartphones, saying that the devices will get the updated operating system once it is released to the public between the third or fourth quarter of 2015.

The Redmond, California-based company announced the arrival of Windows 10 earlier this year, and they are planning to come up with a unified OS that could work on all of their electronic devices like smartphones, smartwatches, as well as their laptops so that all of their consumers can have access to their accounts whatever device they intend to use.

Analysts believe that Microsoft was challenged by competitors like Apple and Google, who both came up with their own operating system update this year when they released the iOS 8 and Android 5.0 Lollipop, respectively. Both updates offered major modifications that greatly improved the functions of the devices that run using these softwares.

Meanwhile the rumored Lumia 940 specs began to leak online, saying that the upcoming device will serve as the first flagship phone of Microsoft after it takes over the ownership of Lumia from Nokia.

The rumors stated that the Lumia 940 will come with a 5-inch full HD display screen with Snapdragon 805 SoC and 3 GB RAM. It will also allegedly have a powerful 24-megapixel PureView rear camera with a groundbreaking 5-megapixel front-facing camera with full HD video recording.

Also, the reported Lumia 940 will be the first smartphone that will run using the Windows 10 operating system.

Presently, there is no news about the exact release date of the Windows 10 update, as well as the Lumia 940 unveiling. However, the company will come up with other new products like the Lumia 535 that is scheduled to be released this month, as well as the latest Windows phablet called the Lumia 1330.
