Developed by Tokyo RPG Factory, "Lost Sphear" is a Japanese Roleplaying Game (JRPG) that was released in Japan in October of 2017. The game will soon be hitting the west, and is slated for a western release on Jan. 23. The game will be coming to the PC, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.

According to "Lost Sphear's" official website, the game is an attempt to merge classic JRPG gameplay and modern graphics and storytelling to create a fresh take on the genre.

An official synopsis is available on Nintendo's website: "The adventure of LOST SPHEAR begins in a remote town of Elgarthe where a young boy, Kanata, awakens from a devastating dream to find his hometown disappearing. Facing an ominous power that threatens the fabric of reality he must awaken the power of Memory to restore the 'LOST.' To stop the world from disappearing forever."

Players jump into the shoes of Kanata and guide him through a strange sci-fi-like world. Kanata must team up with different characters and find a way to eliminate the white fog that is eating away at their town. If Kanata and his friends fail, his town and their entire world will disappear.

"Lost Sphear's" announcement trailer was uploaded to Square Enix Na's YouTube channel on May. 30, 2017. A little over three minutes long, the trailer starts on a somber note – with the town of Eru slowly being consumed by the white fog. As the fog progresses throughout the city, people vanish without a trace, and those who are left behind can do nothing but grieve for their lost loved ones.

The trailer continues on this sad note before showing players a glimpse of "Lost Sphear's" gameplay, art design, character design, and its original soundtrack. Kanata and his friends then set off to face enemies and bring back hope to their slowly vanishing hometown.

"Lost Sphear" is currently available for pre-purchase on the Steam store. Those who pre-purchase the game will receive two music tracks and an exclusive downloadable wallpaper.
