'Longmire' season 4 plot news: Trailer shows the darker side of Walt

Longmire season 4

The latest trailer for "Longmire" season 4 has been released, and it proves that the upcoming season is the most thrilling yet in the entire series.

In the trailer posted by Netflix, Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) seems to be very determined to hunt the people responsible for his wife's death. But it looks his quest for revenge turns him into a different man who is slowly being consumed by his wrath, thus forgetting his values as a law enforcer.

Meanwhile, his trusted friend Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips) tries everything to stop Longmire from being consumed by the dark, yet it seems that the sheriff has already decided to dedicate his second chance in life to get revenge for his dead wife.

The trailer also shows that the upcoming season will feature a lot of high emotions from the characters, especially from the vengeful sheriff. Even his colleague Vic Moretti (Katee Sakhoff) is very emotional — she will do anything for him as long as he comes clean about what is really happening.

"Longmire" season 4 will be the first season of the series that will be shown directly on Netflix. The first three seasons were shown on A&E before getting cancelled by the network.

Aside from Taylor, Sackhoff, Phillips, and Martinez, the 10-episode season will also feature the return of Cassidy Freeman as Walt's daughter Cady, Louanne Stephens as Ruby, Gerald McRaney as the rich real estate developer Barlow Connally, and Bailey Chase as Deputy Branch Connally.

The season will immediately take off after the events in the previous season, when Longmire discovered that his wife was actually murdered. It will also show how Cady will react upon learning that her mother did not actually die due to cancer, and that her dad lied to her about it.

"Longmire" season 4 will air on Sept. 10 on Netflix.
