LG G7 release rumors: 2018 flagship launching January 2018 alongside Samsung Galaxy S9?

As the end of 2017 nears, reports about next year's flagship from Apple, Samsung, and Chinese makers have been circulating in the rumor mill nonstop. It has been humbly quiet, however, when it comes to LG. Although not much is known yet about its upcoming LG G7, new reports claim it might just arrive first thing next year.

According to reports, the company is considering a January 2018 launch. This is a whole month before the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) trade show where the LG G5 and LG G6 were previously unveiled. The plan of G7's premature launch is reportedly because the LG G6 benefited from hitting the shelves earlier than its rivals, especially Samsung's 2017 flagship.

It is unclear where this information came from, so the idea of a January launch is purely speculation for now. But it does make sense for LG to choose an early LG G7 release date.

The company has been locked in a battle with Samsung for years, but it somehow ended up as a one-sided fight. While the Galaxy maker has been focusing on outdoing Apple and its iPhone bestsellers, LG has been stuck in an uphill struggle to catch up to Samsung. It could very well be planning to have a fair share of the spotlight before the competition clouds its new device.

Should G7 arrive in the predicted month, chances are it will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, which takes place from Jan. 9 to 12.

However, it may not be the only flagship gracing the event. Reports further say that Samsung is also eyeing the same release window for its Galaxy S9 to quickly draw flair away from the newly released iPhone X, which is getting massively popular. This echoes previous rumors that the S9 series will be launched in early 2018.

Famed tipster and Venture Beat contributor Evan Blass said the S8 successors would make their first public appearance at the January trade show. However, he claimed only some information about the handsets will be unveiled at the Vegas show. Apparently, Samsung still has the full launch planned for March.
