The LG G7 has long been rumored to launch in early 2018, particularly at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona last week. However, the South Korean tech firm made no announcement of the LG G6 successor, thus leaving the fate of the G7 smartphone up in the air. In spite of being a no-show, LG may have actually unveiled the flagship handset during the event, albeit in closed doors. A recent report shows that a certain LG G7 Neo handset was secretly showcased with a design similar to the iPhone X.
According to the Israeli news website YNET, LG had already introduced the G7 Neo smartphone last week. The online publication's hands-on review of the device reveals that the LG G7 is packed with Qualcomm's latest high-end mobile processor, the Snapdragon 845. It was earlier reported that the LG G7 would be among the first handsets to feature the Snapdragon 845, but the Samsung Galaxy S9, Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S went ahead of it.
Interestingly, the LG G7 Neo was shown to have a striking similarity with Apple's current flagship smartphone. This is because of the familiar notch area on the top display, resembling the iPhone X's notch feature containing the Face ID sensors. The G7 smartphone also sports a 6-inch display with OLED screen and 19:5:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood, the LG G7 Neo includes 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 64 GB built-in storage, although there is also a top-end variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage. Consistent with the previous reports, the smartphone is also revealed to sport a dual-lens rear camera, which is a combination of two 16-megapixel sensors.
Still, Engadget reported that the LG G7 Neo smartphone that appeared at the MWC 2018 may not be the same flagship device that is expected to launch this year. According to tech tipster Evan Blass from Venture Beat, the G7 Neo could be the canceled device to be replaced by a new LG flagship condenamed Judy. Furthermore, Blass claimed that LG showcased other smartphones apart from the G7 Neo such as Q7 and V35, although these may not see the light of day.
