The latest ThinkPad 11e series from Lenovo has been updated to target the education sector, the company said.
During the Florida Education Technology Conference, Lenovo unveiled the latest updates to their ThinkPad 11e series that focuses on education. The newly updated products include the ThinkPad 11e models as well as the ThinkPad YOGA 11e, which functions as a laptop, a tablet, a tablet with a stand, and a laptop that can be viewed in a tent-like angle.
The new and improved models of Lenovo's laptops will be equipped with fifth generation Intel Core processors such as the Broadwell-U product range that the company declared as a better version of the current processor line, and APUs from AMD.
One notable improvement in the updated ThinkPad 11e products is the increased sturdiness of the units that could help endure the ever-changing environment in a school set-up. The ThinkPad 11e units will also have an 11.6-inch high-definition display, while the Yoga 11e units will now have Gorilla Glass 3 from Corning to help in protecting the 10-point multi-touch screen.
The two laptop lines will weigh less than 3.3 pounds despite all of the added and improved features.
Also, Lenovo will come up with an optional accessory for both the improved products. It will be called the ActivePen, and it is made to recreate the feeling of using pen on paper. This can work well for the WRITEit and REACHit software that was exclusively created by Lenovo for the 11e series. This is in line with the company's goal to attract more consumers from the academic sector, including educators, students, and the like.
The new line in the ThinkPad 11e series will start selling in stores in April this year. The Lenovo ThinkPad 11e units will be sold for $549, while the ThinkPad YOGA 11e can be purchased for $699.
