After portraying the role of a vampire in "The Originals," Maisie Richardson-Sellers will soon take on the role of a superhero in the second season of The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow."

Richardson-Sellers has been tapped to play Amaya Jiwe, the grandmother of Megalyn Echikunwoke's character in "Arrow" named Mari McCabe/Vixen. Just like her granddaughter, Amaya will get her powers from the mystical Tantu Totem, which can let he tap the abilities of animals. She can also heal herself.

The actress is best known for her role as the witch Eva Sinclair whose body was used by Rebekah Mikaelson in the supernatural spin-off. She also appeared in the 2015 film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" as the Resistance officer named Korr Sella.

IGN reported that the network decided to cast a new version of Vixen because the schedule of Echikunwoke could be filled with several film projects, including the movie "Step-Sisters." This could mean that it would be difficult for her to shoot for the upcoming season of "Legends of Tomorrow." But the actress will continue lending her voice in the animated series called "Vixen," which airs on the network's digital channel CW Seed.

Aside from Richardson-Sellers, "Minority Report" star Nick Zano will also join the cast of "Legends of Tomorrow" in its sophomore season.

The actor will portray the role of Dr. Nate Heywood, the grandson of Commander Steel. But the network has yet to confirm if Nate will follow his grandfather's footsteps as a superhero.

The new cast members will join the original roster, including Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein/Firestorm, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, Franz Drameh as Jefferson Jackson/Firestorm, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave/Chronos and Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 13.
