K-Pop singer/rapper Heize, whose real name Jang Da-hye, fainted after performing at this year's SBS Gayo Daejun Awards in South Korea on Monday, Dec. 25. The 26-year-old was immediately taken to the hospital after the incident.

"It seems that Heize's extremely busy schedule may have taken a toll on her health," a spokesperson for the singer told Metro in a statement, adding, "Based on her diagnosis at the hospital, it has been decided that she will undergo surgery."

The type of surgery has not been specified but Heize has previously been diagnosed with pharyngitis, according to Soompi. Prior to her collapse, she has reportedly shown other symptoms of illness, including vomiting and a high fever.

It is unclear whether Heize's collapse will be included in the Tuesday broadcast of SBS Gayo Daejun. However, her rep did confirm that her upcoming events including tour dates and other appearances will have to be cancelled until further notice.

"For now, her progress must be observed, and it appears that she will be unable to move forward with her plans and scheduled activities for the immediate future," the spokesperson added.

The singer's health ordeal comes a week after fellow K-Pop star Kim Jonghyun died of apparent suicide. The 27-year-old SHINee lead singer was found unconscious at his Cheongdam-dong apartment in Seoul on Dec. 18. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was laid to rest on Dec. 21, following a three-day vigil.

Support for Heize has already begun pouring in on social media with saying she deserves proper rest and others hoping she does not overwork herself next time.

Heize, who released an impressive string of hits this year including "You, Clouds, Rain," "Don't Know You," and "Star," recently bagged the Best Vocal Performance Female Solo Award and the Best Hip-Hop and Urban Music Award at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards. She was also a Top 10 Artist at the 2017 Melon Music Awards.
