Universal did not release the first "Jurassic World 2" trailer this week much to fans' dismay, but new potential details did surface recently that will surely make them excited. If the latest report is any indication, a fan-favorite dinosaur is making its debut in "Fallen Kingdom:" the Baryonyx.

First picked up by Jurassic Outpost, the scoop comes from the official augmented reality book of the movie. A bipedal carnivorous dinosaur that could grow more than 30 feet long and stand nearly 10 feet tall, the Baryonyx has long been referenced in the franchise, but has never appeared on screen.

According to the publication, the dinosaur is one of the attractions in Jurassic Park's Isla Nublar. A map of the island shows it dwells at a riverside paddock on the far east of the island. The Baryonyx is also featured in the Jurassic World's park map and is said to be one of the dinosaurs guests would see during the Cretaceous Cruise. It was originally meant to be the main antagonist of "Jurassic Park 3," but it was later replaced by the Spinosaurus.

As to how big the Baryonyx's role is in the film remains to be seen. Regardless, he will not be the only newbie in the herd. The "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" AR book reportedly confirms an all-new hybrid dinosaur as well. It makes no mention of its name, but it is speculated to be the "Indoraptor" that the studio has trademarked a couple of months ago.

Plot details are currently under wraps and will likely remain so until the release of the first trailer at least. However, Comic Book Movie has it that "Fallen Kingdom" will delve into the breeding of new species of dinosaurs for military use.

It can be recalled that "Jurassic World" already touched this theme, featuring the training of the Raptors and creation of the Indominus Rex. For what it is worth, the sequel could further explore this subject more. Whatever the case is, it should not stray far from the "Jurassic Park" formula of humans trying desperately not to get stomped on or mauled while dinosaurs run amok.

Directed by J.A. Bayona, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles as Owen and Claire, respectively. Its official trailer was reported to debut this week, but Universal debunked the claims without giving an official release date.
